Dosage:
- The typical starting dose of Trulicity is 0.75 mg once a week.
- After 4 weeks, the dose may be increased to 1.5 mg once a week, depending on your doctor’s recommendation.
- If additional blood sugar control is needed, the dose may be increased to 3 mg, 4.5 mg, or 6 mg once a week.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Trulicity may increase the risk of thyroid tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). Avoid it if you have a family history of thyroid cancer or MEN 2.
- Trulicity may cause pancreatitis. Seek medical attention if you experience severe abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting.
- Dehydration can worsen kidney function. Stay hydrated and inform your doctor of any changes in urination or swelling.
- Trulicity can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, especially when starting treatment.

- Rapid blood sugar control may worsen diabetic retinopathy. Regular eye exams are recommended.
- Seek immediate medical help if you experience difficulty breathing or swelling of the face or throat.
- Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Not recommended unless prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Usage Instructions:
- Inject Trulicity once a week, on the same day each week
- It can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food
- Administer the injection subcutaneously (under the skin) in the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm
- Rotate injection sites to avoid skin irritation
- Do not reuse needles; use a new needle for each injection
Storage Information:
- Store Trulicity in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C)
- If needed, Trulicity can be kept at room temperature (up to 86°F or 30°C) for up to 14 days before using
- Do not freeze the medication
- Keep the medication out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children
Common Side Effects:
- Nausea is a common side effect that may occur when starting Trulicity.
- Some people may experience diarrhea.
- Vomiting can occur, especially in the early stages of treatment.
- Abdominal pain may be felt as a result of the medication.
- Decreased appetite is another possible side effect.
- Fatigue is also commonly reported by some users of Trulicity.
